Yes, the point of this article is to prove that optimism is a bit unwarranted at this current stage of the WWE. But make no mistake, change is working into the product. Right now it is a simple bit of marketing illusion that the company is using. Make Corey Graves swear, throw a bird at Samoa Joe, make Vince seem less powerful, make Kevin Owens slap Shane around like he’s Stone Cold all in an effort to show that the times are changing and that they can “change with the times”.

The reason why that last bit was in quotes is because that is from one Vincent Kennedy McMahon’s mouth on an episode of Raw about six months to the day from when this article was written. Yet the only thing that seems to have changed is that Shane McMahon turned into a heel demigod and commercial breaks are to be worshiped like deities. Not exactly top of the list for wrestling fans.

However, even though it has been half a year where WWE hasn’t done much to make good on their promise, we are back to feeling like they will actually do it this time. It is like going back to a cheating spouse who is still on Tinder after you get back together, and convincing yourself it will work out.
