Aside from his own career, the biggest claim to fame "Gentleman" Chris Adams could point to was that he trained Steve Austin. A success in his own right when working for World Class Championship Wrestling and as a mid card star during the late-'90s in WCW, Adams had anything but a gentlemanly end to his life in 2001.

After Linda Kaphengst, his short-term girlfriend, was found dead following a drug/alcohol overdose in 2000, he was indicted on a manslaughter charge. Adams had actually passed out too, but he survived the overdose and had to wait to find out if the courts considered him guilty.

He'd never find out the jury's verdict.

Engaging in a heated (and drunken) argument with friend Brent Parnell on 7 October 2001, Adams was shot in the chest and died shortly afterwards. Parnell was acquitted of all charges when he claimed the gun shot had happened through self-defence.
