8 Amazing Wrestlers That Flopped In WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era

2. Ultimo Dragon

Japanese wrestling royalty Ultimo Dragon could have been a superstar for WWE, especially given his pedigree in both WCW and in his homeland. A former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion who went on to have runs with both the Cruiserweight belt and Television Title in WCW (including high-profile matches with Dean Malenko, Steven Regal and Eddie Guerrero), things sadly never really got going for Ultimo Dragon after he signed with WWE in 2003.

Despite being an incredible in-ring technician, Dragon is best known for a series of slips at WrestleMania XX. Entering Madison Square Garden like a man with Castrol on his soles, Dragon slipped as he made his way to the entrance ramp, and did the same again as he went to pose on the turnbuckle.

It was mortifying.

That summed up his time in WWE's system in a microcosm. He was used largely in the television graveyards of Heat and Velocity, and WWE continually tried (and failed) to use Ultimo and other men of his size to recreate the cruiser scene that had been such a blast in ECW and WCW in the late 90s and early 2000s.
