8 Most Polarizing Wrestlers Working Today

5. Shayna Baszler

Well we certainly didn't see this coming.

Coming off a stellar run in NXT and immediately launched into a program with the most over woman in the history of professional wrestling, Baszler looked set to be a cornerstone of the women's division for years to come. Instead, at the time of writing she's been off TV for two weeks with no sign of a return on the horizon.

Some use this as yet another example of WWE letting a world class talent go to waste. Others say it's as an example of how NXT is a very different beast to the main roster. Shayna went from producing white hot matches on the yellow brand to being greeted with near-apathy when she was called up. The crowd turned on her Survivor Series match with Bayley and Becky, her match with Kairi Sane on RAW was showered with chants of “Boring!” (Something that never happened between them in NXT), and the audience began leaving early during her showcase bout at Elimination Chamber.

It looks like Baszler will be staying out of the title picture in WWE, at least until the writers and Baszler herself figure out why she isn't catching fire on the main roster like she did at Full Sail University. Here's hoping they can find a solution as she's too great a talent to be sitting on the sidelines.
