8 Simple Ways WWE Fans Can Help Improve The Product
6. Support Your Favorite Wrestlers With Your Wallet
Yes, it's all well and good to cheer your favorites and boo the guys you hate -- or praise them/smack talk them on Twitter -- but if you really want WWE management to recognize your fervent support for the performers you're smitten with, they need to see it in the sales numbers.
It's a cold, harsh truth that CEOs don't really give a crap about your feelings and preferences unless those feelings and preferences generate revenue for their company. Merchandise sales are still the driving force behind WWE's creative team, just like they were in the days of Hulkamania.
But unlike the 80s, when Vince McMahon was able to effectively tell the fans who to get behind (and thus insure bigger sales numbers for certain superstars), nowadays fans seem to have a more substantial gag reflex. And yet...John Cena and Roman Reigns still own WWE's merch sales. Why is that?
Simply put: Haters of the current product don't buy as much merch as the people who enjoy it. On the surface, that makes sense. But in reality, the people griping about Reigns getting shoved down their throats -- of which there appear to be oodles -- should start buying the WWE Shop out of Bobby Roode and Kevin Owens gear. That's when Vince McMahon and his board of directors will start to take notice.
