8 Times Dolph Ziggler Has Nearly Sabotaged His WWE Career

5. Bleeding At Payback

We all know WWE has a stringent €œno blood€ policy that applies to everyone except Brock Lesnar. The company cites their PG rating and family entertainment values as the reason for this, and because of it wrestling is very different from what many of us grew up on. Because of these restrictions, any time we see blood on a WWE broadcast fans always scramble to deduce if the worker was bleeding legitimately or pulled a sneaky blade job to buck the system. At this year€™s Payback event, Dolph was busted open in his match with Sheamus which ended up requiring ten stitches. According to the Wrestling Observer, there was heat on Ziggler backstage from officials who felt that he deliberately head-butted Sheamus in such a way that he would bust himself open so he could bleed without having to blade. Since WWE only punishments for blood in the case of blading, no fine was given to Dolph, but the move was called €œdumb and reckless€. This speaks to the earlier entry in regards to Dolph being unwilling to tone down his style for his own safety. He€™s an extremely passionate and dedicated performer, and when he€™s in the ring he wants to give a complete effort, even if it€™s at the detriment of his own health. It doesn€™t mean that on this occasion he purposely busted his own head open but if management views him as someone willing to do that, their perception is not going to be in his favor when incidents like this occur.
