8 Times Dolph Ziggler Has Nearly Sabotaged His WWE Career

4. Booking Comedy Gigs Without Permission

File this one under yet another confusing circumstance in the world of 'independent contractors'. After The Authority was brought back following their removal of power due to Ziggler€™s victory at last year€™s Survivor Series, all three members of Team Cena €“ Dolph, Erick Rowan and Ryback €“ were €œfired€ from WWE. It was just a storyline and the three men were brought back within a few weeks. During his off-time, Ziggler took it upon himself to book a few stand-up comedy gigs, something he€™s ben dabbling in for a few years. Even though he knew he wasn€™t going to be used at live events and house shows, he didn€™t seek permission from WWE before doing so and the word came down that he was catching heat for it. It was reported that his punishment for the infraction was dropping the Intercontinental championship to Wade Barrett, but some sources dispute that rumour. Barrett had apparently been in the plans to get back into the title picture and Ziggler booking his shows had no bearing on that decision. We€™ll never know the truth, but again, there€™s a clearly established pattern with Dolph when it comes to these things.
