8 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2019
It's being called the best pay-per-view of 2019 so far.
Impact's Slammiversary 2019 is in the history books, and what a show it was. It's received rave reviews, with quite a few people even going so far as to calling it the best pay-per-view of 2019 thus far.
As the months go by, the product Impact is producing just keeps continuing to get better and better. Given major promotions such as AEW and NJPW have supplanted them in the North American wrestling consciousness, it's unlikely Impact will regain the position they once held, but if they keep on putting on events like this one, they'll at least get people talking about them again.
Every match on the card - including the previously unannounced four way bout - felt like it meant something important. In addition, the main event was a historic moment as it marked the first time an intergender singles match had headlined a pay-per-view for a major wrestling promotion. Impact could have easily gone down the boring route of having the World Championship match closing out the show, but they instead made a progressive move that could do wonders for themselves (and the performers involved) in the long run.
Other highlights from the show included the aforementioned four way match that opened proceedings, the Knockouts Championship Monster's Ball that saw Taya Valkyrie steal the show, and Johnny Impact's last match in an Impact ring - for the time being at least.
