The decision to make Jason Jordan Kurt Angle’s storyline son is bound to be controversial in some ways.

Taking an existing superstar and giving him a suddenly explosive backstory is a risky proposition, and now Jordan has been set up as the blood of an Olympic gold medalist and one of WWE’s biggest stars. It would be like Rock coming out and endorsing a family member as the next big thing, and he doesn’t pan out as expected.

Oh wait…

But seriously, it might be a big risk, but let’s be optimistic here and hope WWE has more planned than just this big reveal. It was obvious back in NXT that WWE felt like Jordan had star potential and kept giving him opportunities to succeed. This is a major investment, because the company can’t go back to this sort of well again for quite some time. This means that they need to go all-in on JJ succeeding here.

Let’s give this a cautious “up” for now, but if they get silly with it (Angle goes crazy with nepotism), then this could get negative marks quickly.
