2. Kanellis Storyline Vortex
Just the other night, this writer was thinking about dropped storylines, and the Maria Kanellis pregnancy angle popped into mind.
And then we got Monday night’s gender reveal and subsequent fallout, and we all had to be wishing it was just a distant memory again.
Maria revealed that her baby was a boy, but then declared that the real father was Ricochet. Mike Kanellis snapped, slapped Ricochet and challenged him to a match, which the One and Only won without breaking a sweat.
Then Maria came out to torment her husband more, saying she lied to motivate Mike to defend her baby’s honor. She proceeded to announce the “real” father – a returning Rusev, who was without his wife Lana. This led to another Kanellis squash, with Rusev (and his mustache) demolishing him.
There’s way too much to unpack here, and none of it is worthwhile. It’s just a silly, humorless angle that isn’t working. At all. Please, please, please drop this and stop sucking superstars up into this angle of suck.
