Ric Flair is a true legend in this business. Hes one of the best overall performers in wrestling history, having some of the best matches and delivering some of the best promos any fan has ever seen. His best work is must-see material for any true fan. Thats why its so incredibly frustrating to watch how hes being misused by WWE on a consistent basis. The company trots Flair out regularly to do meaningless stuff like join a panel of experts or show up in a backstage segment to offer 20 seconds of advice. None of it is direction-shifting or paramount to the program. But Monday nights appearance might mark a new low. Flair showed up to second his daughter Charlotte to the ring for a non-title match against her friend Becky Lynch. Naitch never really uttered a sentence during his two segments on camera, simply going Woooo! about a dozen times and strutting a lot. He was basically a caricature for fans to react to, not a character to help drive a storyline. It really was sad to watch one of the best in the industry being used as a prop rather than a vehicle.
