As a non-wrestler, he chose to relinquish his Championship shot at WrestleMania 15, though when informed it'd be awarded to the runner-up (Austin), the Chairman of the Board changed his mind, but not before he was put in a match with his arch nemesis with his title shot on the line. Following a near year of feuding, McMahon and Stone Cold clashed in a Steel Cage match at St. Valentine's Day Massacre where the winner would earn a WWF title match against The Rock. Despite McMahon enlisting help from a pre-Big Show Paul Wight, The Texas Rattlesnake still found a way to emerge victorious, cementing his place in the main event of WrestleMania.
