8 WWE Superstars With Untapped Heel Potential
2. Finn Bálor
WWE is badly missing a good heel stable, which has been made crystal clear by the random nature of the team assembled to face The Shield in the main event at TLC.
Enter Finn Bálor, and Bálor Club. Together with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, he could bring back the group which had an amazing heel run in New Japan Pro Wrestling prior to Bálor’s arrival in WWE in 2014, since when he has been booked exclusively as a babyface.
We saw a version of ‘The Club’ last summer when AJ Styles substituted for Bálor, but the Irishman was the founder of the world-famous Bullet Club stable and would be a more suitable leader, partly because Styles is too popular to be a true heel. Bálor’s reformation of the faction could be used to set up a dream match between the two down the line.
Bálor appears to be keen on the idea, dropping several teases on social media which have never led to anything other than more anticipation from a desperate fanbase. Anderson and Gallows would surely be up for it too, based on their current position in the company. They are good workers but have zero momentum, and the unit would be stronger than the sum of its parts. Imagine the hype for TLC if The Shield were facing Bálor Club instead.
The Bullet Club is the biggest thing in wrestling outside of Vince McMahon’s control, but WWE could still use the huge interest levels in it to make a massive star out of Balor.
