8 WWE Wrestlers That COULDN'T Stay Retired

7. Ric Flair

It can be argued that nobody in the history of the business enjoyed their time as a pro wrestler more than Ric Flair. The man who personifies his limousine ridin', jet flyin' character to this day, Flair merged with his wrestling persona decades ago and has never looked back. He's the architect of everything that a heel could ever wish to be, and he's one of the best in-ring and on-mic performers to ever do it.

What's sad about Ric's inability to stay away from the squared circle is that he had the most perfect wrestling retirement moment in the history of the game. When Shawn Michaels ruefully tuned up the band, looked Ric in the eye, and superkicked him into retirement after declaring: "I'm sorry, I love you" at the end of their WrestleMania XXIV retirement scrap, it was the perfect send-off for Flair's in-ring career.

As it was, he emerged in TNA less than 2 years later for another run of matches and a great "woo off" with Jay Lethal. Even when he was done with TNA, he came back for a final tag match alongside Andrade El Idolo in 2022.

At the end of that match, everyone seemed to plead with Flair to never wrestle again for his own safety, but he still talks about the possibility of one more match to this day. The fact he almost died during it speaks volumes.
