8 WWE Wrestlers That COULDN'T Stay Retired

3. Edge

Edge's retirement speech on the 11 April 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw is one of the most gut-wrenching moments fans have ever had to endure. As rumors circulated about his health, Edge revealed that his neck injury had taken his career from him. For a superstar so dedicated to fans' entertainment, it was devastating to watch him unable to go out on his own terms.

Nearly 9 years later, with no rumors or fanfare, Edge returned as #21 in the 2020 Royal Rumble Match. His eyes were glazed as Alter Bridge's Metalingus filled a WWE arena once more. Fans went ballistic, Edge delivered thunderous spears to Karl Anderson and Drew McIntyre, and the 'Rated R Superstar' had returned for the foreseeable future.

It was pandemonium.

He defeated Randy Orton at that year's WrestleMania, and has gone on to have more landmark moments, including starting one of WWE's most successful factions of all time in Judgment Day. More recently, he captured the AEW Tag Titles as Adam Copeland with Christian in a great 'I Quit' match vs. FTR.
