8 WWE Wrestlers That COULDN'T Stay Retired

4. Mick Foley

There aren't many performers who have put their body through the world of pain that Mick Foley did during his career. Known for being a hardcore legend and thrilling the world by being thrown from the top of Hell In A Cell in 1998, it was no real surprise when Foley decided to call time on his in-ring career in 2000.

At the 2000 Royal Rumble, Cactus Jack lost an all-time classic 'Street Fight' to WWF Champion Triple H. Seeking revenge and a rematch, Trips agreed to Mick's pitch for a HIAC match at the following month's No Way Out PPV, with the stipulation that Foley must retire if he didn't capture the title.

The Game retained, and Foley was sent packing into early retirement.

He then came back to headline WrestleMania less than 2 months later, as the idea for each McMahon to have a contender in a Fatal 4 Way match for the WWF Title led to Linda reinstating Foley for one last hurrah. It didn't end there though, as Foley returned to WWE again in 2004 for years of matches, including his fiery WrestleMania 22 hardcore showdown against Edge.

He also had a run in TNA in 2009 and 2010, before appearing in the 2012 Royal Rumble. Time will tell if a final match arises for the hardcore icon now that he's signed for AEW.
