9 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming (14 Dec - Review)
2. Mox Shoots, Hangman Scores
Jon Moxley was at his aloof best during a Blackpool Combat Club reset promo earlier in the show, but in typical Mox fashion, something he made feel knockabout and throwaway suddenly doubled in size and strength when it triggered a powerful response later in the show.
After promising to batter Sammy Guevara on Rampage, Moxley glibly encouraged Hangman Page and The Dark Order to show up and confront him. It was deliciously condescending and unflinching, as it had to be based on his fearlessness and physical dominance over both parties in the past.
Page's retort coming during yet more check-ups from the doctors only furthered the idea that he shouldn't be anywhere near such violence. As did his amazing story of forgetting his son's name during the ambulance trip after their last encounter. Locating a specific emotional pain fans could relate to rather than leaning on the physical issues he's still suffering, Page referring to the feeling as "hell" didn't feel remotely hyperbolic, nor did it scan as fluff to set up the next certain scrap.
