7. Blandness Personified

Reigns however? He€™s vanilla in a flack jacket. That doesn€™t make him a bad wrestler who should be booed, but it doesn€™t give the average fan a reason to cheer him. Sure, he has his supporters €“ as many wrestlers do €“ but Roman isn€™t exactly inspiring new fans to flock to him.

Witness the entrances Sunday night. WrestleMania entrances typically are super-elaborate and over-the-top. Guys like Ryder and Charlotte wore robes. New Day had a Booty-O€™s cereal prop. Shane McMahon made it rain. And Triple H had his typical over-the-top entrance.

But Reigns? He walked out, slammed his fist on the ground and fireworks went off. It€™s hard to describe, but it€™s hard to pin down his persona. And maybe others see it right away and love him, and that€™s cool. But he just feels bland. And that€™s a shame, because this writer wants to really like him and not just be indifferent.
