Carmella as SmackDown Women’s Champion has been a poor man’s version of the Honky Tonk Man’s Intercontinental Championship reign. She clearly was outmatched by her opponents but managed to hang onto her title in bouts that underwhelmed.

But with Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch challenging ‘Mella in a triple threat, it was a recipe for success, with the two veterans guiding the fast-paced match through a series of near-falls and submission holds. Lynch hit a top rope legdrop to break up a Figure-Four, and Charlotte nailed a twisting moonsault to the floor. Carmella even busted out a suicide dive and held up her end of the bout.

In the end, it was Charlotte hitting Natural Selection on Becky while she had Carmella in a Disarm-her. Just like that, Charlotte is a seven-time women’s champion. That was all good, but even better, it led to…
