AEW's Backstage Plans For The Elite After New Contracts Signed
Latest on The Elite, including FTR, WWE interest... and CM Punk?!
Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and 'Hangman' Adam Page have re-signed with All Elite Wrestling, inking multi-year deals that will see all four continue as an onscreen act, with Omega and the Bucks retaining their roles as Executive Vice Presidents too.
In an update on the situation, Fightful Select reports that The Elite's new deals are expected to tie them to AEW for "at least four years." The new contracts were finalised over the past few weeks.
Creatively, there has been "movement" on Matt and Nick Jackson working with FTR again, though the outlet had not heard whether or not the Elite potentially facing CM Punk had been broached yet. Punk, Omega, and the Bucks infamously brawled after All Out 2022, resulting in indefinite suspensions for those involved.
AEW had been looking to commence talks over extensions for The Elite as far back as January. It is understood that Punk's return to the promotion slowed things down for a period, with the controversial Collision star's comeback details seemingly needing to be worked out before the Elite's own conclusions.
Unsurprisingly, Fightful notes that WWE had an interest in "any and all members of the group." A few WWE sources believed they had a chance of landing the Elite, having had a positive experience dealing with Kenny and the Bucks in 2018. It doesn't sound like WWE's interest was able to advance as far as serious talks this time around, however, as the Elite would have still been under AEW contracts.
