With Chad Gable fresh off a stunning Match of the Year contender at AAA Noches de Los Grandes: Week 1, AJ Styles believes WWE would be "dumb" not to capitalise on the momentum behind Gable right now.

Speaking on his Phenomenally Retro podcast (via f4wonline), the Phenomenal One said:

"He’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. And if we don’t capitalise, and I say we because I’m a part of WWE, we don’t capitalise on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies. He can be heavyweight champion. He’s a legit freaking pro wrestler. There’s no way somebody in the crowd’s thinking, ‘I could take freaking Chad Gable.’ Uh, dude, legit, he will drop you on your head, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Of course, that Noches de Los Grandes match saw Chad Gable unmasked as the Original El Grande Americano, losing a brutal, bloody Mask vs. Mask bout against the second, and now only, El Grande Americano.

Following that, Gable resurfaced on WWE programming on this past week's SmackDown, initially appearing in a backstage segment with Nick Aldis, and then later apologising to Rey Fenix for his previous comments on lucha libre. While Fenix accepted that apology, he let Chad know there were other luchadores that he needed to apologise to, suggesting we may see the Olympian on Raw later today, with Raw currently the home of Penta, Rey Mysterio, and Dragon Lee.

Interestingly, Chad Gable's most recent match as, well, Chad Gable was against AJ Styles back in June 2025, where P1 picked up a win on an episode of Raw. Since then, Gable has wrestled exclusively under the El Grande Americano moniker.
