Another Sign CM Punk Is Heading To AEW
The breadcrumb trail potentially leading to CM Punk in AEW keeps getting longer...
Speculation on CM Punk potentially signing with AEW keeps snowballing, with today's Wrestling Observer Newsletter bringing new information to the table.
One of Dave Meltzer's internal WWE sources has informed him that people within the world's biggest promotion believe that Punk has signed a deal with Tony Khan's company. While this hasn't been confirmed by AEW yet, obviously, a number of behind-the-scenes happenings point towards it.
Meltzer also reported today that WWE aren't interested in signing Punk themselves. This could conceivably change as the situation develops.
Fightful Select broke the news that Punk was in negotiations over an in-ring return earlier this week, noting that AEW looked his likeliest destination. Meltzer then reported the following day that AEW had been in talks with the former WWE Champion for some time.
Daniel Bryan has also been intensely linked with Khan's group over the past week.
Signing one of these men, let alone both, would be a huge coup for AEW. Punk and Bryan are amongst the most successful, popular, and talented wrestlers of their generation, and acquiring them would guarantee an immediate boon to business - at least in the short term. It'll therefore be interesting to see if they can get the deals done.
