Backstage Update On Edge's New WWE Role
What next for the former Judgment Day leader following his WWE Raw expulsion?
Deposed from The Judgment Day on this week's WWE Raw, Edge has now officially turned babyface.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that WWE has flipped the veteran from heel to face on the Raw roster. This was to be expected after Monday's show, on which he was brutally kicked out of his own stable following Finn Balor's induction, taking a ConChairTo and multiple finishers.
Balor, Rhea Ripley, and Damian Priest remain in The Judgment Day. The group started coming together at WrestleMania 38, where Priest was recruited by Edge, and was expanded to include Ripley at WrestleMania Backlash 2022 last month. Hell In A Cell 2022 (5 June) then brought victory in a six-person tag pitting Edge, Rhea, and Damian against Balor, AJ Styles, and Liv Morgan.
Cody Rhodes' torn pectoral muscle (and expected six-month absence from WWE programming) bred speculation that Edge's sudden face turn was reactionary. That WWE had flipped the 48-year-old's alignment to address the sudden face/heel imbalance on Raw was a popular theory, though whether or not this drove the move is yet to be confirmed (via Fightful Select).
There is currently no word on whether or not Edge will be off Raw to sell the impact of The Judgment Day's beatdown. The ConChairTo is typically reserved for such breaks, though.
