Cody Rhodes will undergo surgery on his torn pectoral muscle tomorrow, having defied the pain barrier to wrestle Seth Rollins at WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 despite sporting a torso closer resembling beef jerky than human flesh.

The recent returnee defeated Rollins for the third time since coming back to WWE at WrestleMania 38. Now, he faces a lengthy period on the sidelines, having been written off company television when Seth attacked him during a promo on this week's Raw.

More accurate estimations of how long it will take Cody to recover should come as he continues along the rehabilitation process. Nonetheless, if he has suffered a complete tear of his pectoral muscle (as PWInsider notes is suspected), he likely faces up to six months on the sidelines.

These injuries are variable. Rhodes' time away will be determined by the tear's severity, though this window is in line with other wrestlers who have suffered the same issue. John Cena's remarkable three-month return at Royal Rumble 2007 would be the exception.

Six months would open up the possibility of Cody returning on the road to Royal Rumble 2023, which is expected to take place in San Antonio, Texas next January.
