Backstage Update On New AEW Signing
New details on an incoming addition to the AEW talent roster.
Lee Moriarty's full-time AEW signing was given the official treatment last week, with the promotion finally unfurling the standard "X Is #AllElite" banner on social media.
This came several weeks after AEW president and founder Tony Khan had offered Moriarty a contract onstage following a match taped for Dark: Elevation on 8 September.
A new report from Fightful Select states that while the deal was already official prior to AEW's formal announcement, there is no word on why, exactly, there was a six-week gap between this and Khan's offer.
In addition, sources within MLW (who were booked Moriarty prior to his AEW signing and had him for tapings afterwards as well) stated that Khan's promotion was extremely easy to deal with through the situation.
Moriarty, 27, is considered amongst the brightest talents on the American independent scene at the moment, having risen to prominence over the past couple of years. He worked his biggest AEW match to date last Friday, losing to Bobby Fish on a special 'Buy In' pre-show for the 15 October episode of Rampage.
Lee is currently five matches deep on his AEW run, having debuted opposite Dante Martin at an August taping.
