Backstage Update On Roman Reigns' Reported 10-Week WWE Break
A follow-up on reports of Roman Reigns taking a 10-week break from WWE TV and house shows.
The ongoing saga of Roman Reigns' rapidly shifting WWE schedule took another turn on Tuesday, as the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported that the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion had been pulled from advertising for all house shows and TV tapings between 19 June and Labor Day (5 September).
This would effectively mean Reigns taking summer off. His status for the Money In The Bank, SummerSlam, and Clash At The Castle premium live events remained in question, however, as while Roman was still advertised for these shows, an advertised appearance isn't a guaranteed appearance. The card is always subject to change.
In an update, Mat Men's Andrew Zarian tweeted that he has been informed by somebody within WWE that Reigns will not be taking an extended break. Instead, WWE's top champion will only be missing house shows in smaller markets, hence why he told a Trenton, New Jersey crowd that he didn't know if he'd ever be back to the city in a promo this past weekend.
Zarian states that Reigns will still be on WWE television and premium live events.
Roman recently signed a new WWE contract entitling him to work a more relaxed schedule, with fewer house show dates expected to be the crux.
