Backstage WWE Reaction To Cody Rhodes' Hell In A Cell Match Revealed
How WWE has reacted to Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins, which split opinions online.
While Cody Rhodes' excruciating WWE Hell In A Cell 2022 match with Seth Rollins drew a very passionate, very mixed response from fans and critics alike, WWE's internal view of it appears to be less split.
WrestleVotes reports that those who watched the match from the Gorila position loved what they were seeing. In addition, WWE is to treat Rollins vs. Rhodes III as "a modern day, all time classic HIAC" going forward:-
I’ve had multiple sources reach out this morning w/ exemplary words for the performance Cody Rhodes put in last night. Credit to Seth Rollins as well. Those at Gorilla were said to have LOVED the match. A modern day, all time classic HIAC that WWE will treat as much going forward
Hell In A Cell 2022 saw Rhodes go 3-0 against Rollins since returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38. It will go down as a painstaking performance in the face of significant injury, as Cody entered the bout nursing a torn pectoral muscle evident in the gigantic bruises adorning his body's right-hand side.
Said injury is what made the match divisive. Rhodes himself was reportedly "insistent" on competing inside Hell In A Cell, though the debate on whether or not he should have been allowed to do has raged from the moment he opened his jacket, revealing the torn pec's aesthetic damage.
Last night's Raw saw Rhodes confirm he would be undergoing surgery to correct the issue later this week. Rollins ambushed him as part of this angle, continuing their feud.
