Rumours of Britt Baker's AEW demise have been greatly exaggerated, according to Bryan Alvarez.

Responding to the reaction to Wade Keller's recent PWTorch report stating that Baker might be done with AEW, Alvarez states that the situation has been "blown way out of proportion," adding that there's nothing to the suggestion that the former AEW Women's World Champion is finished with the Tony Khan-helmed promotion.

Said Alvarez on Twitter:

“From talking to multiple people within AEW, the Britt Baker stories all over the Internet today appear to be blown way out of proportion. She’s not being used and there don’t appear to be any imminent plans, but there’s nothing to her being finished with the company.”

Baker has yet to respond to the controversy directly.

Keller's original report quoted a locker room source who claimed: "No one ever wants to see [Baker] come back." It was stated that Britt was now in "the same category as some other wrestlers where they just don't get phone calls and don't get called in to show up."

An early AEW signing in 2019, Baker emerged as a pivotal player for the promotion after turning heel the following year, finding her footing and getting over huge in her new role. Keller stated in his report, however, that even back then, there were rumours of backstage problems, with Britt described as "fiercely territorial of her role in the company in a way that just felt unsustainable."

Though the PWTorch report didn't outright say Britt was finished with AEW, it stated that a "fed-up" Tony Khan was now focusing his television time on other wrestlers.

Baker last appeared for AEW on the 13 November episode of Dynamite. After beating Penelope Ford, Baker was confronted by Serena Deeb in a post-match angle, with the cameras catching Britt saying "nobody cares" several times as Deeb stood on the ramp. The angle signposted a future match between the two that never happened.
