Charly Caruso Leaves WWE
Broadcaster Charly Caruso leaves WWE after reports of major backstage heat.
As expected, Charly Caruso has left WWE.
Dave Meltzer writes in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are conflicting stories on the nature of her departure, with some stating she has been fired, while others suggest Caruso simply won't be used until her WWE contract expires. Either way, Caruso is gone.
Newcomer Kevin Patrick has already replaced Charly as a host, interviewer, and backstage personality. Caruso hasn't been on WWE television since 22 February.
Caruso's departure comes on the back of a Fightful Select report stating the 33-year-old had considerable backstage heat after turning up late for interviews, noting specific situations with Randy Orton and Sheamus as examples. Vince McMahon caught wind of this and decided to pull Caruso from television.
PWInsider reported earlier this week that Caruso was expected to leave WWE before long. This appears to have now come to fruition.
Caruso had been with WWE since August 2016. Meltzer notes that she was already looking at life away from WWE anyway, having turned down a long-term contract extension in favour of focusing her future on non-wrestling projects. The past few years have seen Caruso appear for ESPN on top of her WWE duties.
