Charly Caruso's recent removal from WWE television was a result of backstage heat.

Per Fightful Select, the host had caught flak for turning up late for interview segments on several different occasions. The report cites specific situations with top stars Randy Orton and Sheamus as contributing to WWE's decision to pull Caruso from her role.

Vince McMahon caught wind of Charly's lateness and wasn't best pleased, so he acted accordingly.

One of Fightful's sources claimed that WWE recently hired broadcaster Kevin Patrick to be a direct replacement for Caruso, but added that Charly is only one illness or injury away from returning to her role.

How this will impact Caruso's WWE future remains to be seen, though her contract is believed to expire soon.

Caruso, 33, has been with WWE since debuting as an NXT host back in November 2016. She has since graduated to a more prominent main roster spot occupying several broadcasting roles and also holds down a position with ESPN, who took her on in January.

The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported that same month that the ESPN/WWE relationship had effectively ended following WWE's decision to sign its billion-dollar streaming deal with NBC and Peacock.
