Chelsea Green Reveals ABANDONED Triple H WWE Reinvention Plan (WWE News)
Triple H had grand plans for Chelsea Green's character to change, but then...
New interim Women's Champion and popular underdog babyface Chelsea Green has revealed some backstage conversations with Triple H were designed to completely change her as an onscreen character. Then...nothing happened, so she went right back to doing what had been working for her up until that point on WWE television.
Green told the Complex Graps Wrestling Podcast that Hunter wanted to take her "in a more serious direction" overall. Chelsea was buoyed by this, because it'd likely mean she'd become a more credible force on TV in the women's division rather than a comedy character who was a punching bag for babyfaces (at the time).
Then, the next week, she was literally in a comedy spot for around 30 seconds and nothing else was said about 'getting serious'. So, Green thought: "I feel like I found my niche. I found my lane. Why did I try to get out of the lane? The lane works. It’s my lane. I made the lane. I’m going to stay in the lane".
It was here that Chelsea realised how unique she was compared to others in the women's game. There's nobody quite like her on WWE's roster, and she wants to embrace that rather than going "in a more serious direction" and acting just like everyone else all of the time.
Triple H must've changed his mind about going a different route with Green. However, he never said another word to her about it. Fair enough, but some clarification would've been nice! Things have worked out well for Chelsea regardless, because she bagged the interim Women's Title in a 5-way ladder bout at SummerSlam recently.
