Cody has responded to remarks made by WWE's top babyface Roman Reigns about AEW's competitiveness.

'The Big Dog' said it would be "generous" to consider All Elite Wrestling competition to WWE during a summer interview, but the 'American Nightmare' defended his organisation during an interview with German outlet Sport1.

He said; "[Roman] is very, very smart, he has WrestleMania main events under his belt, he has incredible talent. I think at the time, a lot of people were, I don't wanna say naive. People were turning away from it, but there's no turning away now. WWE's on a 49-year head start and I tip my hat for that. But what we're doing is to build upon what fans have been talking about for 20 years, what they want from a wrestling product and what perhaps wasn't delivered to them. We want to be the alternative. If that means stepping into competition, so be it. It's better to have competition, for me, for Roman, for everybody."

The comments come just days removed from NXT's most recent ratings victory over a divisive episode of Dynamite, but WWE's traditional main roster hasn't yet had to go head-to-head with the nascent brand. 2020 will surely prove to proffer yet more shots across the bow as the new wrestling war continues.
