Controversial Ex-AEW Name Was At IMPACT Wrestling Bound For Glory 2023
This former AEW man was backstage for Bound for Glory last night.
With IMPACT Wrestling Bound for Glory 2023 having taken place last night, one person present for that PPV was Ace Steel.
Via PWInsider.com, Steel was at Bound for Glory to work as a producer for the event. This is said to have been a tryout for the former AEW man.
Of course, Ace - real name Chris Guy - previously served as a producer and coach for both NXT and AEW, before being released from AEW last month shortly after his long-time friend CM Punk had been terminated by the promotion. This marked the second time that Steel had been fired by AEW, with him initially being released shortly after the infamous Brawl All last year, where he allegedly bit Kenny Omega as part of the backstage altercation featuring Punk, Omega, and the Young Bucks. Ace would be rehired to work remotely once the Straight-Edge Superstar was brought back into the AEW fold earlier this year.
During that original stint out of AEW, IMPACT had interest in bringing Ace Steel in. That interest was obviously dropped once Steel rejoined Tony Khan's promotion, but the Anthem promotion has now reignited their interest in Ace.
Steel is technically no stranger to IMPACT, having worked a handful of matches for the promotion back in 2002 and 2003 when it was under its NWA: TNA moniker. On that front, last night's Bound for Glory PPV concluded with the revelation that IMPACT will be reverting to the TNA name as of January's Hard to Kill event.
