Did Rusev Ask For His WWE Release?

'The Bulgarian Brute' isn't happy, apparently.

One of the most over wrestlers in the company he may be, but if PWInsider are to be believed, Rusev isn't happy with his position in WWE.

They reckon that 'The Bulgarian Brute' even went as far as asking for his release a couple of weeks ago. The company refused, but it reportedly prompted them to insert Rusev into WrestleMania 34's United States Title match, in which he'll compete against champion Randy Orton, Jinder Mahal, and Bobby Roode.

This conflicts with Dave Meltzer, who had previously written that Rusev was moved from the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal to the US Title bout on account of his strong merchandise sales.

Whatever the case, it's easy to see why Rusev might be upset with his push, as he has rarely been used as anything other than a jobber to the stars since his 2015 feud with John Cena. This is despite his obvious skill both in the ring and on the microphone, and his proven ability to get anything over, particularly today, with "Rusev Day" chants dominating SmackDown.

It's best to apply a little cynicism here, as PWI are just one source, but given the situation, Rusev potentially asking for his release isn't a stretch.
