WWE Royal Rumble 2021 winner Edge will challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 on 10 or 11 April.

This was confirmed at last night's Elimination Chamber 2021 pay-per-view, when The Rated R Superstar attacked The Head of the Table after a successful Universal Title defence over Daniel Bryan. A spear levelled Reigns before Edge pointed at the WrestleMania sign to signal his intentions.

Reigns vs. Edge was reported a couple of days after the 47-year-old scored a cathartic Royal Rumble 2021 victory. Last night's angle therefore shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone following the reporting, though WWE at least attempted to keep it ambiguous over the weeks that followed, with Edge appearing on Raw, SmackDown, and NXT to tease different challenges.

WrestleMania 37 will be the first time Reigns and Edge have ever gone one-on-one.

Lasting less than two minutes, last night's Bryan vs. Reigns match was typical of Roman's current character in that it saw him taking advantage of an opponent at their weakest, as Daniel had already survived and won an Elimination Chamber match to punch his ticket for a title shot. It was Reigns' seventh title defence since becoming champion in August 2020.
