7. Randy Orton Vs. Kurt Angle (c) Vs. Rey Mysterio - WrestleMania XXII
Another WrestleMania, another Randy Orton triple threat match. In hindsight, it is remarkable how badly WWE bungled Rey Mysterio's rise to the top. His performance and winning of the Royal Rumble was perfect, but he was then goaded into putting the shot on the line against Orton, who subsequently beat him. Rey was added back into the match, but the wind had well and truly left the sails by that point. This match really should have been a one-on-one battle between Angle and Mysterio, giving them a chance to recapture the magic of their bout at SummerSlam in 2002 and stretch it out over a longer time, ending with Mysterio's big moment. As it was, this was rushed at nine minutes and left Rey's moment somewhat flat. This might all sound a bit negative for such a lofty spot on the list, but then you must remember, this match included Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and Kurt Freakin' Angle. How could it not be great? They knew time was short and as such threw absolutely everything into those nine minutes, with near falls and false finishes all over the shop. The crowd wanted Angle to win, but still popped big for Rey's victory.
