What was he doing at the time?

Rich Swann was 8 months and 20 matches into his full-time WWE run when he was entered into the Cruiserweight Classic bracket, but he'd already been receiving rave reviews for 7 years preceding that. Meteoric performances against Johnny Gargano in EVOLVE, El Generico and AR Fox in PWG, and The Swords of Essex in England's RevPro had been steadily boosting his Cagematch performance rating before WWE finally snapped him up in October 2015, which itself had followed a Mark Henry-arranged tryout and endorsement from Wale.

Swann had everything moving in the right direction, but staying true to the nature of the industry, he soon took a wrong turn.

What is he doing now?

Arrested in late 2017 on charges of battery and false imprisonment against his wife, Su Yung, and again in 2022 for disorderly intoxication, Rich Swann has been through the wringer, but the important thing is that he has come out the other end a better man. He was reported to have entered rehab in 2024 and, more recently, inked a new deal with TNA that will see him through the next few years.
