Every WWE Royal Rumble's Best Performer

1999 €“ Steve Austin

Vince McMahon may have won the 1999 Royal Rumble, but it was €œStone Cold€ Steve Austin who was the real star of the show. Of course, this Rumble match took place during the heyday of McMahon/Austin, and the feud was taken up to another level here when a $100,000 bounty was placed on Austin€™s bald head by Vinny Mac. As such, Stone Cold had a target on his back and spent the entire Rumble fighting off McMahon€™s cronies both in and out of the ring. Starting at #1, Austin would soon end up taken out by The Corporation before making a triumphant return later on in the match, although he€™d ultimately get distracted by The Rock and eliminated by McMahon. The Rumble match itself was certainly a mixed bag. As a spectacle, it was a hot match due to the Austin and McMahon stuff, but this also led to a little too many shenanigans and cutaways from the main in-ring Rumble action. Regardless, Austin was the main attraction here and it was his performance that held the match together.
