Ex-AEW Star Set For WWE Tryout (WWE News)
You MIGHT remember this guy looking a little different on AEW TV years ago.
Fightful Select is reporting that former AEW man KJ Orso will receive a WWE tryout this week. Those who don't recognise that name may remember him by looking at the pic above instead - Orso was known as Fuego Del Sol under Tony Khan's banner, and he worked approx 80 matches for All Elite between 2020-2024.
His most memorable moments in AEW came during a brief storyline with real life friend Sammy Guevara and the debuting Miro (Rusev). At one stage, Del Sol earning a full time All Elite contract was one of the bigger tales told during Rampage's earlier episodes.
Since then, Orso has renamed and unmasked. Fightful noted that he's been turning heads on the independent wrestling scene for a while now, so it sounds like this tryout is richly deserved. A quick look at the man's social media reveals that he looks a little more muscled than he did when flying around the place under a mask.
KJ previously wrestled a squash bout for WWE on the 6 January 2020 episode of flagship show Raw. There, he lost to Erick Rowan in just 25 seconds. Orso will be hoping his tryout lasts a bit longer than that!
Sean Ross Sapp said that KJ didn't personally announce the tryout himself, and the Fightful scribe isn't quite sure why. We'll need to wait on word about that.
Fingers crossed the trial goes well and Orso can impress. Earning a contract with WWE would clearly be a dream outcome for the guy.
