Ex-WWE Writer Reveals COMPLETELY INSANE New World Order Revival Pitch (WWE News)

2020's ThunderDome era almost saw WWE introduce a random nWo reboot. No, seriously!

Ex-WWE writer Chris Dunn has told the Public Enemies podcast that Sheamus, Cesaro (AEW's Claudio Castagnoli), Shinsuke Nakamura and Lars Sullivan almost formed a brand new version of the iconic nWo faction during the closed door 'ThunderDome' days of 2020.

According to Dunn, this was simply the creative team banging their heads together and trying to keep TV interesting: "A lot of ideas were thrown against the wall". Eventually, it was decided that the quartet would make a fine New World Order 2020, but then everything fell apart before the concept debuted on-screen.

A "legendary nWo member" was supposed to fly in and introduce the group in front of the cameras. Dunn couldn't remember exactly who, but knows it wasn't Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman who was handpicked for the role. Ultimately, that unnamed legend failed a COVID test, which meant they couldn't go ahead with the booking as planned and repackage a WCW classic.

Here's where things get even more interesting. Kevin Nash responded to a post about this pitch on X, and he said it wasn't he or Scott Hall either. The trio of close friends had never discussed a new-fangled incarnation of the New World Order, and one of them definitely would've brought it up over the phone.

That'd leave Hulk Hogan or another peripheral member of the nWo 'B' team, but it's a mystery. Dunn has, however, confirmed that WWE bosses wanted to make nWo 2K20 a thing on Raw or SmackDown that year. Presumably, Sheamus would've been the leader.

Imagine how different things could've been.
