Goldberg is not currently scheduled for WWE Crown Jewel 2024 this weekend, despite rumours of a potential storyline with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson has reported as much. Goldberg isn't slated to be in Saudi Arabia for the Riyadh event, meaning that whatever happens next in the Gunther vs. Goldberg saga, it won't be furthered with an in-person Goldberg at this weekend's Premium Live Event.

Goldberg, 57, last appeared on WWE's 5 October PLE, Bad Blood 2024. Bill and son Gage were featured guests in the audience, whom Gunther insulted, saying that Bret Hart had always been his childhood hero. Security then prevented a provoked Goldberg from getting physical with Gunther, though Paul 'Triple H' Levesque had BIll's hand raised by the end of the segment.

Roman Reigns was Goldberg's last WWE opponent, with the heavyweight duo clashing for the Universal Title at Elimination Chamber 2022. 32 months have now passed since this match.

Will Goldberg Stay Retired From WWE?

WWE

Goldberg became a free agent in late 2022, when his expiring WWE contract was not renewed by the promotion. It was speculated, at the time, that the former WCW Champion was considering retirement.

In March 2023, Goldberg told Sports Illustrated that he felt WWE owed him a retirement match:

"You never say never, especially in wrestling, and they owe me one. That's all I can say. I made a deal with the devil and I did my job, and they owe me a retirement match. At the end of the day, at 56, it's not something where I'm sitting by the phone waiting for a call. I've got a few ideas of how to do it on my own, possibly in Israel. So, never say never."

So far this has not been forthcoming.

Goldberg originally retired from wrestling shortly after leaving WWE in 2004. 12 years later, he returned to feud with Brock Lesnar, sensationally defeating the 'Beast Incarnate' in 85 seconds at Survivor Series 2016. This commenced a run that effectively lasted until the Reigns match in 2022, with Goldberg becoming a two-time Universal Champion along the way.
