This is according to Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston, whose information comes from people within AEW and NJPW. But like the numbers quoted by Tony Khan at the post-show media scrum, these are projections, with the final numbers potentially differing due to the delay in reporting sales figures from traditional platforms.

Nonetheless, the projected 127,000 buys include over 7,000 from the NJPW World streaming platform.

Forbidden Door generated around $4.4 million in revenue for its promoters after the split with its many carriers. Khan had previously stated the event made $5 million in this department, which was likely a pre-split figure. Platforms like FITE and Bleacher Report, as well as traditional outlets, would all be due a cut.

Only All Out 2021 ($5.6 million), Double Or Nothing 2022 ($5.1 million), and Revolution 2022 ($4.7 million) have brought in more net revenue from pay-per-view sales for the company.

Taking place in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday 26 June, Forbidden Door was the first full-on collaborative event between AEW and NJPW since the two promotions' working agreement was forged in early 2021.
