How WrestleMania 40 Will Ruin Triple H's WWE Story
Forget 'Mania, it's WWE story-ruining season, folks!
What a difference a few weeks makes, eh?
As 2024 got underway, WWE honestly looked like a company on the verge of producing a WrestleMania every bit as stupendous as Vince McMahon forced you to believe the 38th edition would be.
Genuine megastars had made returns that weren't just shocking, they were once unthinkable, with the likes of CM Punk and The Rock both strutting back into the world of sports entertainment just in time for what could be the biggest 'Show of Shows' ever.
Cody Rhodes, Bayley, Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch, Drew McIntyre, Gunther and many more had all been patiently and consistently pushed as figures to actually give a damn about over the previous year, creating an organic desire to see each of those full-time characters get their well-earned spot in Philadelphia.
But then the wheels spectacularly/horrifyingly fell off.
After Rocky's Day 1 return left those banging the drum for a certain story to be finished feeling a touch nervous, that tiny drama - and WWE finalising a gigantic deal with Netflix - was soon completely overshadowed by the horrifying allegations made against the former Chairman of the Board.
From that moment on, a dark cloud has quite rightly sat over anything going down in-between the ropes.
However, horribly handled press conference aside, Triple H did somehow manage to restore at least some of the positive vibes by having Rhodes and 'The Role Model' walk out of Florida with a main event spot at 'The Showcase of the Immortals' guaranteed.
Hell, Cody even pointed at Roman Reigns in a box!
The story was being finished.
Punk and Seth Rollins were about to finally get their precious 'Mania main events - and the newest member of the TKO board of directors would likely just do the right thing and set-up a magnificent 'Head of the Table' clash in 2025, right?
That was a whopping 10-days ago (at time of writing). Feel old yet?
Now, after a legendarily disastrous SmackDown segment, Rhodes' story isn't the only one in danger of being irreparably ruined...
