Ever since Seth Rollins betrayed Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose on June 2 2014, the wrestling world has been waiting patiently for the triple threat match that was inevitable between the three former members of The Shield. Many assumed it would be held off for WrestleMania, seeing as it is one of the biggest matches available to the company. If not WrestleMania, then surely another big event, SummerSlam maybe?

Well, the triple threat has been announced, and it will take place at WWE Battleground of all places. At the next WWE special event on July 24th, Dean Ambrose will defend his newly-won WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in Washington D.C.

So there you have it, it is official. Ambrose vs. Reigns vs. Rollins. We've waited two years for this, and it is finally upon us. Why Battleground, why now? Well, to me it would seem fairly clear. Five days before Battleground RAW and SmackDown will split into two entities, and rumour has it both will have a top title.

What better way to get there than with a schmozz finish in a triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship?
