IMPACT Wrestling Star "Ghosted" By Authors Of Pain's WES Promotion
Another controversy for the pullout-strewn WES UK show, due to take place this weekend.
IMPACT Wrestling's Matthew Rehwoldt has alleged he was ghosted by the Authors of Pain-helmed Wrestling Entertainment Series promotion, having previously been promised a booking (including up-front payment) from the nascent company.
Rehwoldt revealed this through Twitter over the weekend. In a series of posts, the former Aiden English stated that he took his former colleagues AOP's word, passing on another booking following their promises. The 34-year-old then heard nothing in return and while some of his friends have been paid for their WES UK participation, he doubts the 9 July card will actually go ahead.
Having forgone another opportunity for the WES UK show, Rehwoldt is now out of pocket and out of work.
Tweeted the IMPACT personality:-
So @wesofficialtv has cost me time and now cost me income.
AdvertisementI was asked to be on this show but had a conflicting booking. I was told they really wanted me and would pay me upfront. So as they were former colleagues I took them at their word and passed on my other booking. ? https://t.co/3DIZzoxRfD

And since I have been completely ghosted. Zero communication.
AdvertisementI have friends booked for the show and luckily some of them have been paid already but I doubt the show will happen. No travel, hotel, or any pertinent information has been shared with anyone I know.

Now I’m also out a weekend or income due to them. Part of that is on me as I chose to forgo my other date… But as I said I was told repeatedly that “for sure“ this was happening and they wanted me to be there.

Wrestling Entertainment Series' first show was announced for Nottingham, England's 10,000-seater Motorpoint Arena back in May. The original 4 June date was then pushed back to 9 July with only a few days' notice. A lineup heavily reliant on former WWE names like Adam 'Braun Strowman' Scherr, Lina 'Nia Jax' Fanene, and CJ 'Lana' Perry has since been depleted by a number of high-profile pullouts.
WES's official website still lists the event as going ahead on 9 July. Currently, ex-UFC star Alistair Overeem vs. IMPACT's Moose is advertised for the main event above Fanene vs. an opponent to be determined, though the former Nia Jax recently confirmed that she won't be there.
I do not know why I am still on this poster, but I will REPEAT myself again…I will NOT be at the show. Please do not buy a ticket thinking you will see me perform or get a chance to meet me. I hate that this misleads people! https://t.co/4yTAhHeWbX

How many of the Motorpoint Arena's 10,000 seats WES UK has filled ahead of Saturday's show is currently unknown.
