The ambitious Wrestling Entertainment Series' first event will not take place on Saturday 4 June as planned.

Headed by former WWE tag team Authors of Pain (now competing as Legion of Pain), WES' debut show was announced for the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England in mid-April. Ex-WWE stars Adam 'Braun Strowman' Scherr, Lina 'Nia Jax' Fanene, CJ 'Lana' Perry, and more comprised a star-studded lineup, thus providing the show's theoretical selling point.

The Motorpoint Arena has now issued the following statement confirming the WES event's postponement until July:-

Unfortunately, the event organisers have decided to postpone this event to Saturday 9 July. Originally due to take place on Saturday 4 June 2022, all original tickets will remain valid for the new date.

Headlined by Scherr vs. former UFC fighter Alistair Overeem, who would have been making his professional wrestling debut, WES immediately raised eyebrows for its ambition. The Motorpoint Arena holds around 10,000 people (likely fewer when calibrated for wrestling) and although the get-in price has since been lowered, the cheapest tickets for the event sat at around £37.00.

Wrestling Entertainment Series UK was due to air on FITE.
