Last night's Impact Wrestling Rebellion pay-per-view brought dramatic changes in the World Title scene, with challenger Brian Cage unseating Johnny Impact as champion, before free agent Michael Elgin confronted him after the bell.

Freshly released from his New Japan Pro Wrestling contract, the former IWGP Intercontinental Champion went toe-to-toe with Cage, who raised the belt in his face. This prompted 'Big Mike' to blast 'The Machine' with a spinning back fist, then down him with a signature Elgin Bomb to close the scene.

What's most interesting about this development is that the controversial Elgin was reportedly on the verge of signing with WWE earlier this month. This obviously won't be happening if he's appearing on Impact Wrestling pay-per-views, so that particular deal must have fallen through for whatever reason.

In more concerning news, Cage was taken to the hospital as soon as his on-air duties were done:-

Lords of Pain are reporting that Cage suffered a back injury when Johnny Impact delivered a Spanish Fly from the ramp to the floor, though the promotion are yet to issue an update on their former champion's condition. Here's hoping he's okay to participate in their next set of tapings.
