John Cena Could Make "Game-Changing" TNA Appearance (WWE News)
Could John Cena make a surprise stop in TNA during his WWE retirement tour?!
Nic Nemeth won't rule out the prospect of John Cena making a surprise stop off in TNA during his year long WWE retirement tour. The reigning TNA World Champion told Sports Illustrated's 'The Takedown' that it'd be "special" and potentially "game-changing" for the Total Nonstop Action brand as a whole if everyone could come together to make that happen.
This idea isn't as far-fetched as it might've seemed until recently. WWE just announced a key working partnership with TNA that'll see talent cross the divide on both sides. Realistically, more TNA workers will show up on programming like NXT than the other way around, but nothing should be ruled out.
If Cena decided he'd get a kick out of appearing on TNA's show, then it could probably happen.
Nemeth, who worked extensively in WWE as Dolph Ziggler, would love to see it, but he recognises that everybody on the wrestling map will be tripping over themselves for even a few minutes on-screen with John. Raw, SmackDown and massive events like Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and more will be key dates on Cena's retirement schedule. However, it'd feel surreal if he showed face inside a TNA ring for the first time ever, so never say never.
Is Cena Winning The TNA Title Too Outlandish?!
That raises another question: Would Cena actually win the TNA World Title if he shared the ring with current incumbent and ex-WWE peer Nemeth? Obviously, this sounds totally ridiculous, but 2025 is already shaping up to be a wild year for content. Why not heap on some more crazy shenanigans and stick 'John Cena as TNA Champ' on your bingo cards?!
Nic is choosing to be open and honest about it. If Cena did ever come to TNA for even one match, he'd want to "hog it" and make sure he was standing across the ring from him. Again, all of this sounds more like something a kid would make in Universe Mode on WWE 2K24 than real life, but...pro wrestling is a fantasy business and more far-out things have happened in recent years.
The ball's firmly in 'Super Cena's' court, but WWE would surely acquiesce to his demands considering this is his retirement. If John wants to shock social media and show up in TNA with a nod and a wink towards his 2011 promo opposite Vince McMahon (back then, Cena threatened to wrestle on Impact if he was fired in storyline amidst the whole 'Summer Of [CM] Punk' situation), then who's going to stop him?
Wrestling is some business. John Cena in TNA. In 2025. Imagine!
