You can't see him.

Well, you can, because John Cena keeps sporadically popping back into view post-retirement as a guest host or means for WWE/TKO to shift some tickets. However, the man himself has told Good Housekeeping that he wants everyone to forget all about him and focus on the future.

During the interview, Cena paused to say: "My goal for my stay in the business is to leave it better than I found it, and my résumé is a byproduct of that. I know none of us live forever. Nobody remembers anything. People forget about me. So, my hope for the future is that people forget about me".

He then went on to double down on that point by adding: "If [WWE] stars have enough gravity, have enough relevance, they should be the ones influencing the audience, the people in the arena. That is my hope, amazingly - that people forget".

Nobody will forget a thing whilst TKO uses JC's star power to hype current PLEs, that's for sure. Besides, Cena only just retired with a loss to Gunther on a Saturday Night's Main Event special on 13 December 2025. It's been around 6 months since he called it a career, and that's simply not long enough to forget about someone so impactful.

Anyone concerned that they've seen the last of Cena shouldn't be. He also called himself a "fan first", and confirmed that he'll "never get away" from the industry completely. John discussed his current mentorship role and ambassadorial duties in amongst other things (including just watching as a fan).
