Self Made Pro has revealed that Jon Moxley knocked back a pitch to have his Death Riders faction kick him out. Tony Khan fancied exploring the option of a babyface turn for Mox, and figured that the likes of Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir turning on him would be the best way to go about things.

Jon said thanks, but no thanks. He wasn't interested, and reportedly called that "WWE stuff" when asked why. Moxley doesn't think that the Death Riders need to change at all, so he 'shut it down instantly' as soon as the subject was broached.

Previously, Mox had defended a rough start for the group by saying it was here to stay. The concept is one he wholeheartedly believes in, and he has since day one. Instead of splitting as AEW management planned, the stable has targeted Will Ospreay and his United Empire mates on Dynamite and Collision recently.

Jon clearly has heavy influence behind the scenes at AEW. It's either that or Khan was willing to listen to alternatives and nothing was particularly set in stone - perhaps the boss was simply spitballing ideas, but Moxley happened to dislike what he had in mind on this occasion.

The Death Riders formed out of the ashes of the old Blackpool Combat Club in 2024. On the whole, they've had a much more openly vicious and less respectful presentation than the BCC. It hasn't always been popular with wrestling fans, but it's popular with Mox.

He didn't want this (death) ride to end.
